† biography

event 001: the church. when john was very young, his mother passed due to an unknown illness. he had tried his best as a toddler to help her, but failed. after her passing, he was transferred to an orphanage in a church and taken care for by Miriam Bell, a nun at the church. while in the orphanage, he became very close with another child named lisa. he was very close to miriam and lisa until one day miriam disappeared and presumably killed six of the other children in the orphanage. he knew deep down it was the devil's work. whatever the demon did to him left him to be anxious and standoffish in his adult life.event 002: the exorcism. john becomes an ordained priest and follows the lord's word closely. he is receiving letters from lisa, but ignores them due to the pain of the past. he pairs with another priest named Father Allred for a presumed exorcism. reaching the house, john meets with the victim, amy martin's, parents. he is terrified to find that they had her bound in the basement. it was understandable, but he had never done an exorcism before. coming face to face with amy, his blood runs cold. father allred demands the demon look at him, to which it does. father allred works on exorcising her while demanding john to ready the exorcism prayer from their prayer book. he does so, struggling. upon the fourth verse, amy's parents come downstairs and distract john from finishing. allred tells him to take them back upstairs, which john does. upon returning to the basement, he finds father allred has been knocked unconcious. he takes the man's crucifix, deadset on helping the girl. he finds her in the attic and she makes a cruel comment about the passing of john's mother. he attempts to continue to procedure, but is shortly after knocked out. upon waking, he blocks the attic door with things in the rest of the home before swearing to never return. he comes out of the attic to find that mr and mrs. martin have been strangled with their own innards. in fear, he concludes he must find father allred and leave as soon as possible. when he reaches the basement, he finds allred asking john to come to him. he comes to find out that amy is simply messing with allred's dead body. finding it too much to bear, he begs god to save him. disguised as a being of light, satan comes and grants john's wish once he swears it is what he wants. this leaves john to leave the house and be greeted by the paramedics and police outside.event 003: the ward. john and amy are both admitted to yale psychiatric institution. john is assigned Dr. Spinel, who is there to help the priest regain his sanity and get a clear report on what happened in the martin household. for the first month, john is delusional and unable to give a proper report. john sensed amy was in the institution and becomes hysterical. dr. spinel prescribes john medication to calm him down and keep his hysterics under control. during one of his consultations with dr. spinel, john goes into a mental breakdown and is forced into a straight jacket and a padded cell. while in there, he manages to draw crucifixes all over the walls. once he tires himself, he is allowed to continue with the consultation. he is released a few weeks later upon request by an unknown figure posing as john.event 004: the return. a while later, john gets married to a woman named molly and lives a peaceful life after being removed as a priest. one night, he gets a dream of amy calling him back to the home and so he gets his uniform on and his crucifix, and makes the drive there. he reaches the home and comes face to face with a faceless amy. he attempts to continue the exorcism he attempted so many years ago, but amy escapes, leaving john to head back home. he comes home to find that molly has left him. he makes a return to the old church he was raised in as a last resort. there he is greeted with signs of cult activity.event 005: the cult john ends up coming in close contact with the Cult of the Second Death, run by Gary Miller. he attempts to save his childhood friend Lisa from said cult, but ends up killing her after being possessed. he goes on to team up with another priest named father garcia to fight the cult and right his past wrongs.
